FABULOUS TITANIC EDWARDIAN SILK TOURING SUIT

An incredible, truly period-correct and superbly flattering Edwardian/Titanic style 1912-1913 era pure silk suit, styled from an authentic period pattern and VERY reminiscent of Rose's "boarding suit" in the movie "Titanic".....
All of the lace elements and appliques you see here have been entirely and painstakingly hand sewn! Superfine, substantial-weight pure silk with a raised corded stripe, in a gorgeous shade of dark rose/dusty burgundy...this is very costly, crisp suit-weight silk. The embellishment of this suit features the epitome of fine French handsewing techniques and includes some antique laces in the applique work and exquisite cut-velvet wide applique bordering. A series of fine antique lace double-layered appliques topped by glittering black jet buttons ornament both the lower side of the skirt and the side-closing jacket front, both of which have asymmetrical styling. Both the cut of the jacket and the skirt are extremely flattering to just about any size. The high-necked separate dickey (which is removable and may be used with other outfits; or the jacket worn with something else beneath it if desired) is composed of fine handdyed natural and antique laces in meticulously handsewn layers. The jacket, is fully lined with ecru silk and the cuffs are finished exactly as the collar, with matching embroidered black velvet cutwork and an underlayer of handyed ecru lace....The asymmetrical front has three tabs with appliques/buttons that the buyer may adjust where desired (coat hooks to be sewn underneath these to keep the jacket closed) ....Separate A-line Edwardian slim skirt features further hand-appliqued black velvet embroidered cutwork and four more of the antique double layered appliques with jet buttons.....gorgeous!
As with all pieces, everything is very finely sewn, finished with French seams.

The whole look of this ensemble is truly elegant, refined yet very rich in color and style.....could have easily been in Mrs. Astor's wardrobe when she boarded the Titanic....except that this is far, far more comfortable than anything she would have worn! Eminently suitable for Titanic events, the SIT weekend or any other Edwardian event, it's a total attention grabber indeed....

Sizing on this suit is from approx. a modern 8/10 to a 16 (no larger than that), and can be adjusted according to the individual measurements (please read order info before purchase!) Bust approx. 44" max, skirt waist is 33" max and hip 44" maximum. Shown on 5' 7" size 8-10 model with 2" heels...PLEASE NOTE I do not put fasteners on anything so that the buyer can adjust the fit themselves...buyer is responsible for being aware of this!

This is not highly fitted at all and therefore would be very comfortable to wear (as with all outfits, I always do suggest good foundation garments/corset and petticoats be worn underneath, for the appropriate historical look).....Incredibly PERFECT for a Titanic event, or the Somewhere in Time Weekend as this is a true 1912-1913 style. The workmanship on this suit is beyond compare and rivals that of the finest antiques....it will truly draw awe & compliments wherever it is worn. The materials used are truly museum-quality!
